Owner, Girls Team Director
Suzie graduated in 1990 from Miami University with a degree in Mass Communications. She attended NCSU pursuing her Masters in Middle Grades Education. Suzie gained her initial coaching experience at Kenny’s Gymnastics in Raleigh, NC and then at Atlanta School of Gymnastics in Atlanta, GA. She began coaching at International Gymnastics in June, 1993 where she quickly became the head coach, program director and gym manager. In her 21 years at International Gymnastics Suzie coached several national qualifiers and placed many kids into collegiate gymnastics programs. She has trained kids from preschool gymnastics up to International Elite. Suzie is married to Kirk Sanocki who is a collegiate swim coach and together they have four children – Cole, Carson, Lily and Kendall.
Owner, Girls Team Director
Hannah was a gymnast at International Gymnastics for 7 years and competed in the sport of gymnastics for a total of 10 years. She went on to compete as a scholarship cheerleader for Gardner-Webb University while earning a Bachelors of Science degree in Health and Wellness with a minor in Psychology. She has been coaching for 12+ years at various programs in NC, but began coaching with Suzie in 2012. Suzie and Hannah opened Perfect Balance together in September, 2015.
Kim was born and raised in Michigan and moved to North Carolina in 1993 after graduating from Eastern Michigan University with a degree in Management. She was an athlete from the age of six through high school including softball, cheerleading, drill team and tennis. Kim coached softball for nine years where she had one undefeated year, three first place champion seasons and 3 successful middle school team seasons. Kim is married and has a twenty-two year old daughter, three step children and three grandchildren.
Special Events Director
Ronshell was born and raised in Delaware. She moved to Charlotte, NC in 2019 with her two daughters. She comes from an experienced, professional background with 8 years of youth services and coordinating experience at Delaware Public Libraries. Ronshell came to work for PBTC last year and said she has learned so much about Gymnastics and professionalism! She considers herself a big kid at heart and enjoys working with children, planning awesome events and art.
Head USAG Optional (levels 6-10) Team Coach
Teshawne started her gymnastics career as a gymnast at Low Country Gymnastics in Charleston, SC where she competed for 12 years. She competed in Level 10 Eastern National Championships in 1999. Teshawne went on to continue a very successful 4 years at West Virginia as a scholarship gymnast and earned her Bachelors of Science degree in athletic coaching. Coming from a college coaching job, we were happy that she settled into club gymnastics with us here in Charlotte in 2012. Prior to moving to Charlotte, Teshawne held coaching jobs at Ball State, William and Mary, Iowa State and Utah State. Teshawne is a vital part of our coaching staff and we are happy to have her! You may recognize her from coaching gymnastics camps such as Woodward, NC State, Auburn and Georgia.
USAG Optional (levels 6-10) Team Coordinator
Justin began his gymnastics career in Knoxville, TN at Premier Athletics. He competed at 6 JO national championships before graduating and attending the University of Illinois at Chicago. Justin moved back to Knoxville and coached there briefly before moving to Raleigh, NC. After coaching at Superior Gymnastics for the past 6 seasons, he has transitioned to the USAG Optional Team Coordinator here at PBTC! Justin’s wife Leane also competed gymnastics in college at the UW-OshKosh. They have 1 year old daughter Adilynn.
Pre Team (mighty mites, levels 1-2) Director
Hallie is originally from Aiken, South Carolina but grew up in Charleston, South Carolina. She was a competitive gymnast for 13 years and a Level 8, 9, and 10 regional qualifier. Hallie started coaching when she was 15 years old. Upon graduating high school she majored in Kinesiology and Athletic Training at Penn State University. Hallie has been coaching in Charlotte for the past 8 years and I have been full time with PBTC for 3 years. USAG Safety Certified, CPR and First Aid certified.
Pre Team Coordinator
Katie is from Kernersville, NC and recently moved to Charlotte after getting married on 4/18/2020. Gymnastics has always been a huge part of her life and a passion that continues to grow. Katie started gymnastics when she was 2 years old and reached level 9 by my sophomore year in high school. She graduated college from Lenoir-Rhyne University in Hickory, NC with a bachelor degree in Health and Exercise Science. During her time there she was a part of the LR Cheerleading team. After graduating from college Katie moved back to Kernersville where she began work in the school system while coaching gymnastics part time. Katie has decided to take on coaching full-time with Perfect Balance alongside Hallie Penland as our Pre Team Coordinator and we are thrilled to have her!
Andrea has been a part of our program since 2007. She has been a vital part of our program as our Pre-Team Director since 2009. Andrea competed as both a club athlete at the Toledo YMCA and also as a high school gymnast at Maumee High School in Toledo, Ohio. She started coaching rec classes in Toledo while attending the University of Toledo. Andrea helps run our class and team programs as well as overseeing our Pre-Team Program.
USAG Xcel Director
Leane started gymnastics at the age of 5. She completed her club gymnastics career at Cabarrus County Gymnastics in Concord, NC. She then went on to compete gymnastics in college at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh. While at UWO, Leane earned her BA of Science in Athletic Training. After graduation, she moved to Raleigh, NC with her husband, Justin and worked full time at Duke Orthopedics while also coaching part-time at Superior Gymnastics. Fun Fact: Coach Justin and Coach Leane met while coaching at Flip Fest Gymnastics camp while in college!
Sarah grew up in Massachusetts and had been living in Connecticut for the last 10 years before moving to Charlotte. She has a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Hartford. Sarah first worked in schools as an assistant teacher and behavioral intervention specialist when she started coaching gymnastics part time 6 years ago. For the last three years, Sarah has been coaching full-time and has taught everything from parent and child classes to team and everything in between. My favorite events to coach are vault and floor.
Julianna started gymnastics when at 4 years old at Southeastern Gymnastics Training Center. She graduated in 2015 and began her dream of being a college athlete at Louisiana State University. Julianna, “Jules,” is a two-time All American on vault and part of the Academic All SEC team. She graduated in 2019 with a degree in interdisciplinary studies, focused on psychology, social work, and sports studies. She is also in the process of getting her master’s in social work with LSU.
Morgan was a gymnast for 8 years at International Gymnastics. She started coaching AAU in 2017. Morgan loves gymnastics and working with kids. She was a diver for 5 years and a high school cheerleader for 2 years. She is currently in school for personal training and following with stretch and flexibility coaching.
Kylee was born in Youngstown, Ohio and moved to Waxhaw, North Carolina in 2004. She graduated from UNC Charlotte with a degree in English and Early Childhood Studies in 2020. In addition to being a Recreational Director, she is also a Personal Trainer. In her free time, she enjoys playing tennis and going to the U.S National Whitewater Center.
Melissa was born and raised by the beach of Topsail in North Carolina. She is currently attending college for nursing. Melissa’s skills in childcare started when she helped in Sunday school with all ages and regularly babysat for fellow church couples. Because of this, she developed how to attentively watch over, take care, and entertain/interact with all ages of children. Melissa has also held coaching jobs previously that helped shape her coaching style into what it is now. She did cheer for 2-3 years which contributed to her knowledge of tumbling skills. Cheer also sparked her interest in gymnastics. Over the summer of 2021, Melissa joined the Sonshine Gymnastics camp staff. She eventually expanded her job title to recreational coach, where she shadowed and taught a variety level of classes from pre-school up to USAG, level 4 gymnastics.
